Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake  by Michael Kaplan

This is the first in a series of “Betty Bunny” books, and so far the girls love them all. Very clever, with good lessons, too. Betty’s big brother Bill is a favorite in our house.

Bink & Gollie by Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee

Bink and Gollie are best friends, and the stars of three books (so far). These books are a hilarious read for children and adults alike; we all quote from them frequently.

*Sticker Dolly Dressing Books by Usborne.  Aside from videos, I’ve NEVER seen the girls become as focused as they get with these books, which involve using stickers to “dress” characters in various scenes. Buys me hours of time!

*Melissa & Doug Water Wow Books. These are great for car/plane trips, or just for use around the house. Fill the pen with water, rub it over the page, and images appear. Best of all: You can reuse it again and again!

*Schleich Horse Figurines. I ended up with a bunch of horse-crazy girls. We have a TON of these horses around, and my daughters never tire of arranging them into various “set-ups.” They’re durable (we’ve never had one break), not choking hazards (important with a baby around), and anatomically correct — a favorite game of my girls’ is to flip them over to determine the horse’s gender!
